YOUR Ego

embrace your ego

You are driven, and that drive is part of your true nature. Because of it, people around you may assume you have a "big" ego, when in truth they are often reacting to something they do not fully understand. Most people are not wired the way you are, and your intensity, clarity, and vision can feel uncomfortable to those who move through life at a different pace.

About that ego of yours. Yes, you have one, and it's not a flaw. The ego is your thinking structure, the part of you that organizes, decides, protects, and strives. When you unconsciously identify with it, it can take over quietly and run your life. When you step back and observe it, the ego becomes a powerful ally. Freedom, as we describe it in Shine, is not getting rid of the ego but loosening your grip on it so it can serve what truly matters.

I encourage you to embrace your ego. Use it wisely. It’s a gift when you do. When you don’t, you leave a black trail behind you and lose the point. What’s the point? To make an impact in this world! To live with compassion, non-judgment, and love.

Journaling Prompt
Write about a moment in the past week when your ego was leading the way and left you feeling tight, defensive, or separate. Then write about a moment when your ego was in service to something larger than you and felt grounded, calm, or clear. As you reread both experiences, notice what sensations arise in your body.
