Are You Attached?
What do I mean by “are you attached?”
It’s when you are attached to:
Your identity
Relationships
Emotions
Success
Things
If your sense of security and happiness depends on these, you are attached.
I live in a beautiful home and a safe community. Sometimes during my Be Still time, I sit with intention contemplating the question of my attachment to these things in my life. What if I had to move out of this dream home? What if I had to leave this community? Ugh!
Ok, maybe you have an attachment like I do. What to do? Use your Be Still time to embody the fact that you are safe and whole independent of your things and your circumstances.
The Practice
In your stillness, bring to mind an attachment. Imagine your life without it (mind). Notice the feelings, emotions, and sensations that arise (body). Bring attention to the place in your body you notice them. You may feel called to breathe into the area(s) as a way to create space and allow the body to soften and release what it’s holding on to.
Doing this regularly deepens your body awareness, helps emotions, feelings, and sensations move through your body, and supports you in returning to a greater experience of inner wholeness.
Final Thought
