Whole Brain Living
Not long ago, you may have heard the story of Jill Bolte Taylor, a Harvard-trained neuroanatomist who experienced a life-altering stroke early in her career. During her recovery, much of her left brain function went offline, leaving her living primarily from the right side of the brain. That experience radically deepened her understanding of how the brain works and how differently life feels when presence, connection, and awareness guide us instead of constant analysis and mental pressure.
What stuck with me most about her story was not the science, but her unmistakable love for life. When she speaks, passion pours through her, and you can feel how alive she is to the miracle of being in this moment, right here, right now. She calls this way of living whole brain living, where you learn to understand, nurture, and work with your brain so you can choose who you want to be moment by moment. When you do this, your drive stays strong, and you begin to experience peace, as well. You stay effective, grounded, and deeply connected rather than trapped in constant mental push.
Journaling prompt
Are you living primarily from your left brain or your right brain today? What is one simple daily practice you can commit to that brings more balance between focused thinking and present moment awareness?
Final Thought
"And when we understand our brain cells and what they do and how to work with them and how to keep them well, then we can manifest our own mental health." - Jill Bolte Taylor
May you lead with clarity, live with presence, and remember that wholeness is already within you.
Wishing you lots of joy ♥️
Much love,
Rob
