Freedom Is Choosing Your Responsibility

Freedom Is Choosing Your Responsibility by Rob Dube blog thumbnail

I recently read this quote from Toni Morrison: “Freedom doesn’t mean the absence of responsibilities. Freedom means you get to choose your responsibilities.” So many of us have been taught to find our purpose, as if there is one big thing out there we must find for our lives to have meaning.

Ok, so replace purpose with responsibility as you read this. Are you free to choose your responsibility(s)? The thing(s) your True Self knows is yours to steward?

As you ponder those questions, consider that responsibilities that come from ego, fear, proving, obligation, or the need to be seen are not coming from your True Self. When your mind is running the show, it convinces you that your worth depends on what you accomplish, how others respond, and whether your life looks meaningful from the outside.

Your True Self does not need to be recognized by others.

To find real freedom to allow your responsibility to surface you must let go. Can you fully let go?

It's scary!

The ego may wonder who you will become as this life unfolds. But on the other side of letting go is peace. Once your True Self chooses your responsibility(s), you are free! Oh, you'll still work hard. Probably harder...it just won't feel like it!

When you fully let go of control, what becomes possible for you?

Final Thought

“Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.” — Rumi

Wishing you lots of joy!
